Definition

An excavator is an engineering vehicle consisting of an articulated arm (boom, stick), bucket and cab mounted on a pivot (a rotating platform, like a Lazy Susan) atop an undercarriage with tracks or wheels.

Uses

  1. The main function of the excavator is to dig and move earth (excavation).
  2. Beside being used in construction sites, excavators are also commonly used in mining activities.
  3. Hard material digging above track level.
  4. For loading of the trucks.
